The first time Shannon and I picked up meat birds we raised together from the poultry processor the woman who handed us our chickens back made it a point to tell us they were some sturdy birds! The glow on Shannon's face lasted for days.
We start our meat birds indoors, protected in brooders with constant care as they start their life on the farm. Within 8-12 weeks we are ready to have local, professional, poultry processors prepare these birds for your freezer, and eventually, Sunday Dinner table!
